ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

Based on the classic tale, The Velveteen Rabbit, a Play with Music, is filled with songs, toys and holiday joy!  

 

A brand-new children’s theatre production of The Velveteen Rabbit, designed to be performed by youth casts, for young audiences (core ages 3 – 12).  This version of the story is gentle enough for young audiences, while keeping the essential messages of the original classic.

 

Jamie is given the gift of a stuffed velveteen rabbit at Christmas.  The rabbit joins a crowded toy box, filled with other toys who have a lot to say about life in the nursery!  Over time, the velveteen rabbit becomes Jamie’s favorite toy, and when the child becomes sick, it is the love of their beloved toy that helps them get better. At the end of the tale, when the stuffed rabbit must be thrown out, along with the sheets and blankets that are filled with germs from Jamie’s illness, a magical fairy appears and turns the rabbit into a real rabbit, giving them the gift of a new life, filled with new friends, dancing and play.
